"Hi I’m Dr. Adrienne Mulligan on behalf of Expert Village.com and we are going to talk about water today for your cat and water is very important in keeping it clean and fresh; it is really important. Water sitting in a bowl for very many days will develop molds and you will get a slimy feeling in the bowl so it is very important to make sure you clean that bowl frequently and fill it with fresh water on a daily basis. If you keep your food near your water bowl, then you are going to end up with food in the water bowl which makes it even harder to keep clean and they are going to decide they don’t like to drink the water because it’s got kind of this food and gunkiness in it and cats are pretty picky about their water in the first place. So I prefer to separate their food and their water by distance so that they eat here and they drink over there and that the water stays fresh and we feed them good quality water like bottled water or reverse osmosis water. Always keep in mind using a ceramic dish or a stainless steel dish and not plastic. "
