" Hi this is Elise McMahon with expertvillage.com and this video series we are going to talking about flea and tick prevention. If you like to find more about my services you can visit my website canineheadstart.com. In this short clip we are going to be talking about another alternative to use on your dog to control fleas and ticks. We were just talking about one short term method that you can use which is the flea spray and we talked already about the longer term method the topical or the oral or the flea collar. Another thing that you can do if you feel you are having a sort of a ...... enter action with fleas and ticks you can use shampoos. So this is a example of a flea and tick shampoo it kills fleas and tick these one also cleans and deodorizes which may be great for dogs that are stinky. You want to read the instructions very carefully. One thing that you do want to be careful about this product is if you are using another method of flea control that is topical IE that is something that you put in in one of the spot treatment that you put in your dogs back or even if your dog typically wears a flea collar you want to check and make sure that the active ingredient what ever product you are using is not counter indicated to use with one your other products. Again the chemicals can sometimes have a bad reaction together and it could be very harmful for the dogs. The shampoos are gerenally pretty safe you would probably want to have a adult doing the shampooing you would not want kids to actually ingesting any of the shampoo. But the shampoo could be a great alternative to use as a time in doing it here or doing it there. One thing about the flea shampoo is even if you are using something else you might want to consider shampooing your dog if they had a lot of fleas. If they had a lurch flea infestation and you are finding a lot of the flea dirt and if you remember we took a look using a flea comb and I showed you how to comb through the dogs coat to see if you can find any of the flea dirt of any fleas. If your dog had a series infestation shampooing them is not a bad idea but, again make sure that you might not be you might want to make sure you are not using a shampoo that has a active ingredient which shouldn't be use with whatever topical stuff you are using."
