" Hi! This is Elise for Expert Village and in this video series we’re going to be talking about how to travel with your dog. If you would like to find out more about my services you can visit my website canineheadstart.com. So in this short clip we’re going to be talking about what to bring with you in travel with your dog, often when I’m traveling with my dogs they have about twice as much as gear as I do going into the car but you want to make sure when you’re heading off that you’ve got everything you’re going to need because the dog is dependent on you to bring things along with you. The first things that are important are bringing up water for your dog. You want to get a container of any size or a number of containers of water for your dogs. This is certainly necessary when you’re traveling in the car with your dog but often having the water that from your home is important to bring along so your dog doesn’t get an upset stomach, bringing food along for your dog, if your dog eats dry you’re going to bring as much food as you’re going to need of that. Canned food, if your dog eats can food also you need to bring your dog’s dishes and I’ve got an example, this is actually a traveling dish it’s collapsable, it’s a traveling dish you can put either food or water in it and this is just an example of metal dish. Good idea to have one separate dish for food, one dish for water. So your dog will have access to both of them and obviously you’re going to be bringing your dogs leash and collar. I always think it’s a good idea to travel with two different leashes and if you’re going to do that you can bring a shortest leash, this is a six foot leash and then this is a longer leash. The dog can get a little bit more exercise this is probably a 26 foot leash and your dogs collar make sure they have proper identification on them and any tags for licensing and rabies that your dog has, make sure that they’re all on your dog. Also to bring with you brushes, bring your dogs brush with you if you are out and about and they get burs and things like that in them, you want to be able to clean their coat. If they’re shedding and you’re visiting a friend you want to get some of that hair off before you go into the house. Another good thing for the dog is to have toys. Toys are familiar with so bring some of your dog’s toys if they got some favorite toys. Let’s see here we’ve got clean up solutions of your staying at a hotel or motel, bed and breakfast anywhere your friends house, your parents house you want to have clean up solutions even if your dog is house broken they can still have an accident sometimes dogs can get an upset stomach for example if you change their food or if you give them too much of a new food. So you want to have some chemical cleaner or some cleaner that will take the odour and the stains out and also carry paper towels around with you. Just make sure you are a little more independent. Also you want to have pooper scooper bags with you and the last thing I want to mention is you want to bring along a first aid kit for your dog."
