"Hi this is Elise McMahon for Expert Village.com and in this video series we are going to be talking about walking your dog. If you would like to find out more about my services, you can take a look at my website at www.canineheadstart.com. So to begin with the first part of walking your dog is actually collaring and leashing your dog. For this, we are actually going to use a head halter which is a device that fits around your dog’s nose and then clasp behind their neck and this is a great device for walking dogs that tend to pull on the leash. It allows you as you the human counter part in the walk to maintain control of the dog. We are also going to be using a 6 foot leather leash. So, to start with collaring the dog. You want to teach your dog to sit to be collared and leashed up. You don’t want to have a lot of dancing around and games while you are trying to get the dog on a leash. It sets a bad tone for the walk so we are going to be using Tai here, Tai come, and can you sit? Good boy. And I am going to take the nose band, place it over his nose and I am going to take the other two straps and click from behind his neck. Tai, sit. Now Tai got up and I am not finished putting his collar or leash on yet so I am not going to continue until he is sitting. Tai. Tai. Sit. Good boy. Wait. You want to make sure that everything is adjusted properly and fits correctly. Wait and then you are going to take your leash and attach it to your dog’s collar. Now we are ready to start our walk. "
