"Hi! I'm Beverly for Expert Village. In this clip, we are going to be talking about how to choose a boarding facility. The most important thing when choosing a boarding facility is to make sure you take a tour of the place. Make an appointment with the owners and go by there, take a look at it and see where your pet will be housed. Boarding facilities can be very different in amenities all the way from small crates to suites with televisions and constant entertainment. Check to see if there are solid walls between the units or if they will be separated by glass or chain links. If your dog is especially nervous around other dogs, ask them if they will accommodate him by placing him in a low traffic area. Take a note of the temperature and the ventilation. If your pet doesn't have a thick coat and is not allowed to have her bedding from home, will she be comfortable? Ask questions about how your pet will be cared for, how much and how often she will get exercise, whether you can bring your own food or if your pet will be on the facilities food during her stay and if you will be allowed to bring in bedding or other things that smell like home. With lots of dogs running around and going potty on the ground, it is imperative that the place is kept clean. When you take your tour, take note of how the place smells. How clean is it? Find out how often they clean and whether your pet will have contact with other animals. Once again, utilize references. Find other pet owners who have used the services and see what they have to say about it. "
