"Hi! I'm Beverly for Expert Village. In this clip, we are going to be talking about what boarding is. Boarding is when you take your pet out of your home and bring them to an outside facility where they will provide care while you are traveling. It is also known as a kennel. At most boarding facilities, your pet will be kept in a crate or a suite for the majority of the day where he will eat and sleep. Some facilities allow owners to bring in the dog's regular food and others require that the dog eat the food provided there. The kennel will administer medicine as needed; sometimes for an extra fee. They will likely be kept in a unit that houses several other dogs as well. They may be separated by wire, Plexiglas or a solid wall. Boarding facilities can run a gamut from stacked crates or cages to full blown suites with television and music piped in and lots of other amenities. Many facilities offer additional services such as grooming or playtime. Your dog will be taken outside periodically for potty breaks and exercise. Some kennels allow dogs to play with other pets in the facilities care. Some kennels have a staff member on the premises 24 hours a day looking after the pet. Make sure you pay a visit to the facility and take a look at where you pet will be housed while you are gone. "
