" Hi! I’m Tracy Tenner with Better Behavior Dog Training here at Extra Care Animal Hospital in Davie, Florida. We’re here on behalf of expertvillage.com and we’re going to be teaching you how to teach your dogs tricks. Here we are again with Doc and we’re going to attempt to teach Doc the command or the trick to stand. That means that he should be standing on all four paws. One way to teach this is to take the treat from his nose and move it straight in front of him brining him, hopefully into a standing position, stand…is the command and if he doesn’t stand we can help him a little bit with our other hand, good stand…and give the treat while he’s in a standing position. Remember that it’s important that the dog learns all these basic positions so that we can angle into more involved tricks. Once again we’re going to try the stand from the sitting position we move the trick out, stand, good as the dog gets up, we’re going to praise him, stand…and if he needs help we’ll lift him at the flank into a stand position while we let him eat a hot dog, once again it’s a small soft treat that he can nibble for a while and that he likes and that he can eat very quickly. And there’s Doc in a standing position, well we hope that you’ve learned a lot about teaching your dogs tricks today and if you would like any further information you can contact us at www.extracareanimalhospital.vetsuite.com, thank you very much."
