"I’m Tracy Tenner with Better Behavior Dog Training at Extra Care Animal Hospital in Davie, Florida. I am here today on behalf of Expert Village.com at the Tri County Humane Society in Boca Raton, Florida, where I have volunteered as a trainer and a behaviorist. We are here today to help you learn how to pick the perfect pet for you and your family. So if you are ready, let’s get started. One of the more important aspects of adopting a dog for your family is whether or not you have children and how important is it that your dog to be child friendly. Not all dogs like kids and that’s okay. It is just important to know whether or not you particularly need a dog who likes children. Do you have children of your own? How old are they? Are they so little that they are going to trip over dogs and fall on them? Are they older children, just coming home from college to visit? If you have no children, do you have nieces, nephews or grandchildren that come to your house? All these things are very important to consider because this dog is going to become a prominent member of your family. All of these things are very important to consider because the dog you choose is going to become a very prominent member of your family. Some families have no children and very seldom have young visitors don’t have to worry at all about that, and if that is the case, you really might want to go out of your way to adopt a pet that perhaps is not very child friendly. Because that dog, like every other dog in the shelter, deserves a wonderful home like yours. Also when considering whether or not a dot is child friendly, you might want to take into consideration how child friendly is the dog? Some dogs have a tendency to become over exuberant when they see small children. If you have toddlers in your home and they are friends, these exuberant dogs may have a greater likelihood of jumping on them, knocking them down, certainly not out of aggression, but simply out of excitement. Again another thing to consider when looking for that special dog for your family, how old are your children, do you have children, do they have friends who are afraid of dogs or are your children allergic to dogs? All of these things need to be considered when choosing the right dog for you and your family.
