on 5/31/2009 With respect, I have to say that using just a leash is:a) A VERY bad ideab) Illegal in most jurisdictionsc) VERY dangerousThe only safe, legal way to do this is with an attachment such as:The SpringerThe K-9 Bike JoggerThe K-9 CruiserHappy trails and safe riding :)

on 12/7/2008 This is a great way to excercise your dog. I would suggest looking into using a dog bike leash such as the one here to ensure safety http://walkydog.thedogoutdoors.com

"Hi this is Ryan Gwilliam with Expert Village and I'm gonna teach you some things that you can do if you don't have an hour to exercise your dog everyday, that will wear him out fast and get him plenty of exercise. One thing that I like to do is take my dogs on a bike ride. First thing you need to do, first time you do it so that you get comfortable with the bike, is you get them over here and you have them stand next to you. Tole, come here, come here. The first time that I took these guys on a bike ride is I got there leashes on and then I walked with them. I didn't start peddling because you go really fast and they get nervous. So, I just walked with them on the leash, one on each side, and I walked for about a block, maybe a half a block, yea about that. As soon as they were feeling comfortable with the bike, then you can jump on and start peddling. Then you are free to just wrap it around your hand and go like that and you can run your dogs out and have them running a lot faster which they love to do, and they'll run off that extra energy in half the time so you can spend thirty minutes with your dog and get the same amount of exercise. Another option is roller blade. I'm not a big roller blader so I don't use that, but I've seen people do it and it seems to work very well, so you can use that as well. That's gonna get that running, and they get to run right along beside of you which lets them know that your in charge as well. It's a great way for them to get their exercise."
