Video Transcript

"I'm Captain Ray Vonner with Page Police Department. What I want to show you is a Detector dog that has already trained in drug detection. Now, this dog has all the abilities that we want in a dog that is going to be searching for any type of detection work. If, we show you the ball right now, she'll be so intent on it. You can see, this is what she wants, you want to throw it, you want to do something, anything that I do with this ball she is going to love to play with it (dog jumps up) and that's what I want! I want that enthusiasm in the dog. Now, what we'll do is I'll throw it away so, she thinks it's gone okay (doesn't work). Now, we got to try and hide it! so she doesn't think I have it, okay. Now, what we want to do is say "I don't have it! I don't have it!. Now, what we are going to do is were going to go look for it and she's going to search these bags, when she searches it her alert is passive, when she searching, searching she automatically sits and then we give her the ball. She looks, she smells, she make sure thats the scent we want and then she'll sit. When she looks at the handler, she's like okay I found it, I found it! Now, where's my reward and we give her the ball. You can see this is the tin that had the drugs in it. This is how much; this is marijuana and this is what she was looking for."
