"Hi, this is Ryan Gwilliam on behalf of Expert Village and I am going to show you how to create a boundary for your dog. I talked about how walking about properly and how you should always be the first one out the doors and now I am going to show you how not to do that. It is just a matter of getting them calm and then you can touch them lightly. It is actually even better than keep telling them to sit. Just touch them because they understand that a lot better because dogs don't talk to each other, they touch each other. So we have them sitting down calmly and then as soon as I open the door and he gets excited and starts to walk out, give him a quick tug like that. You shouldn't have to pull back hard. You just give him a nice firm correction and make sure that as soon as he is in position that you can loosen the leash. Say want to walk. Never want to have a tight lease like this because it confuses the dog. He doesn't know if he is being bad or what is going on. So you have the leash loose and when he makes a bad mistake, you give him a quick tug. That is how to create boundary for your dog. "

-If you are planning to use the pack for longer distances or for every walk, it pays to invest in a higher quality dog pack with a non-restrictive harness base. A non-restrictive harness will be shaped like a Y when viewed from in front of the dog, rather than having a strap that goes straight horizontally across the chest. This allows for freedom of movement of the dog's legs and shoulders and a more natural gait.

on 1/20/2009 A few notes on dog backpacks from an avid backpacker:
-The majority of the weight of the pack should sit over the dog's shoulders. In the video it appears as if much of the weight is sitting on the dog's spine, which can cause orthopedic problems. A dog's spine is not meant to carry weight.
-Soft or flexible water bottles work better than the regular kind to fill a dog pack. Normal types of water bottles will slosh around and cause swaying and an uneven load in the pack. Soft bottles are usually fairly flat so are more comfortable for the dog to carry, plus the air can be removed from the bottle meaning no sloshing.
-It is important to start out with no weight and get the dog comfortable with the backpack before adding weight. Weight should be added slowly and most dogs should only carry 10-20% of their body weight regularly.
-If you are planning to use the pack for longer di
