"So, I'd like to talk a little bit about diet. What kind of food is your puppy getting right now? He gets Science Diet Puppy Food. We like to feed premium brands of food, and I think that Science Diet is one of the ones that's really, really good. I can tell, because your puppy has a nice beautiful coat. It's nice and shiny. That you're feeding a really good food, and I already suspected that it might be Science Diet. There's several others that we recommend that are pretty good. Iams has a good one. Eukenuba has a good one. And then also Flint River Ranch is another good one that we recommend. So, I think you got a good start in doing that. We also like to talk about how to feed your puppy. When they're still growing like this, we think it's a good idea to feed what we call "free choice". Free choice feeding simply means that you leave the food out for your puppy all the time. Sometimes that's hard if you have other dogs or other animals in the household. But, it's better to leave it out for them all of the time. Two reasons for that. One is if a puppy is growing rapidly one day, or is very active, he's going to need more food than if he's not growing rapidly. So, they do grow in cycles. The other thing about that too, is that puppies have a tendency to put everything in their mouths. Your puppy is getting all of the food he wants and he's not hungry if he's putting things in his mouth, he may not swallow them then. Sometimes it's not a good idea if you haven't been feeding free choice to just all of a sudden fill the bowl up, because they'll eat too much. So you might want to start feeding him four times a day and then as you see your puppy leaving the food alone or leaving some in there, then just keep the bowl full. Okay? "
