" Hi my name is Sarah and my name is Haley and we are two of the technicians here at Extra Care Animal Hospital and on behalf of Expert Village.com, we are going to speak with you today a little bit about the care of your dog. Right now I am going to discuss is ear cleaning. Ear cleaning is something that you can do that prevents ear infection, yeast infection, bacterium infection, a significant odor in your dog’s ear, irritation and redness which can be very painful. It is very simple to prevent an ear infection. Basically what you want to do is get an ear cleaner that has a special drying agent known as alcohol which comes in the air cleaner and a very small amount. It helps keep the moisture away and helps prevent any of the infection from occurring. So what I am going to do is just demonstrate really quickly how you can do a quick and effective ear cleaning on your dog. All I am going to do is just grab one cotton ball. I am going to roll it and make it skinny in my hands and then I am going to soak the cotton ball with the solution. Once I have the solution wet, I am actually going to stick it all the way down in your dog’s ear. Once I stuck it down in the dog’s ear I am going to fold over the ear and massage the solution down and then I am going to take out the cotton ball and the cotton ball is nice and clean. That means your dogs ear is clean. You don’t have to worry about a cotton ball getting stuck in your dog’s ear. They are either going to shake it out or you are going to pull it out. You don’t have to worry about an ear infection building up because you are cleaning their ears once weekly. That is the best thing you can do for your dog and yourself. You don’t want a costly veterinarian bill and you don’t want him to be in any pain. When it comes to ear cleaning, just do it once a week. Your groomer can do it, you can do it or your children can do it. You don’t have to worry about damaging the ear drum. Their ears are shaped differently from ours. Their ears are horizontal vertical. Their ear drums are here. I am just going to be gentle here with the cotton ball so it is one way to prevent a costly bill and an ear infection for these guys is just to do an ear cleaning once a week. That is about it.
