"When to use the off command. As I stated earlier off means four paws on the floor. I would recommend the best times to use an off command is when you first have guests come over to your home. If your dog attempts to jump up on the guests’ thigh, you will command off. Another good time to use the off command is if you're in your home and the dog attempts to jump on the couch. If the dog's successful and jumps on the couch, we want to command off. You also can use the off command if your dog jumps on the bed uninvited. You will hear me use the term uninvited many times throughout the off segment. I prefer to invite my dog either to give me a hug on my chest or to be invited on a couch or a bed. If the dog is not invited I don't want them to jump on any of those objects. By adhering to the off command, you can rest assured that guests will not get jumped on and there won't be too much dog hair on your bed when you come home from work. "
