"Blind stays. So, you think your dog is a champion. Once your dog masters the one foot stay, you eventually will take them to a four to six foot stay, with the ultimate goal of a blind stay. Blind stays are used in case you have to leave your dog in an area where they can't see you and you have to have them stay. This could be used either if you're in the garage and you have to go around the house, or if you're in the living room and you have to go in the bedroom and you don't want your dog to follow you, you'll do a blind stay. The steps of the blind stay are very similar to a standard stay. You'll start with Tin Man, bait, stop sign stay. We're going to back up around a corner so the dog can only see your hand. Then, go to your dog to treat and praise. The goal is eventually your hand disappears, your dog stays. You can then recall your dog or come back to your dog. Blind stays come with time and trust, routine and repetition. "
