"The next thing we're going to do is teach our dog to ring a bell. You can use this to have your dog ring a bell to go outside if you choose. The first thing you need to do is teach your dog to touch and a dog will naturally touch your hand if you stick it in front of them. So, you stick it in front of them and tell him good boy, give him a treat, stick it in front of him, give him a treat and then we're going to add the word "touch." When you add the word touch just tell him to touch. "Good boy." As he progresses with that, you can get him to touch different things "Jake touch." "Good boy." So where he's starting to touch different objects, that's where the bell comes in. If you ask him to touch the bell you can bring the bell up and because we have a good touch you can transfer it to the bell. "Touch." "Good boy." He touched it, it didn't ring he still gets a treat because that's a beginning process. The next time he touches it he has to make it ring. "Touch." "Good Boy." So he's got to hit it a little bit harder. To get him to hit real good you want to help get it there and if I want it louder or if I want him to hit it more "Touch, touch touch, good boy." And you can play around with things like that with all different types of things."
