"Dog food label ingredients. What I like to challenge my customers to doing is take a look at your dry dog food label and see what's actually in the food. As humans are very conscious of what we eat, and what's healthy, we should apply the same standard to our pets. Generally speaking, 85% of dog food ingredients will be comprised in the first 5 ingredients. There are such ingredients as fillers, which is either corn, wheat, rice or millet, which really has no nutritional value to your dog. So when you take the dog ingredient test, I would recommend the first 3 out of the 5 ingredients should be a meat product. Turkey, Chicken, Fish, even what is called Chicken or Turkey meal is sill appropriate food for your dog. The dog ingredients that you should always be weary of, I'm going to read 4 of them to you, that have proven to be harmful to pets. 4D is often comprised of dogs who have been found as road kill or euthanized from a veterinarian hospital. Propylene Glycol is a preservative thought to have the same molecular compounds of anti-freeze. BHA and BHT are suspected carcinogens and finally Ethoxyquin is a major preservative used in rubber tires. These are 4 ingredients if you'd see them on your dog food ingredient label, I'd strongly recommend changing dog foods. "
