"Hi, this is Elise McMahon for Expert Village.com and in this video series we are talking about dog toys. If you would like to find out more about what I do, you can visit my website at www.canineheadstart.com. In this short clip, we are going to be talking about size. What size of toy is appropriate for your dog? So you know dogs run from Chihuahuas all the way up to Irish Wolf Hounds. This is a great size range in different dog breeds. Toys vary in size, from the very small to the very large. I am going to talk about different sizes and you can get toys in different sizes but I would like to say one thing before we begin looking at toys of different size. Whether you have the small dog or a large dog, you always want to buy a toy which is edible or chewable for a dog, much larger than the size of the dog. So if you are going to buy a chew toy for a dog and it’s a little dog buy him something that is much larger than you think they would actually need. Having said that, we have two of the same objects here. This would be very appropriate for a small breed dog or a puppy. This size would be appropriate for a medium sized larger dog say anywhere from 50 lbs. up. A lot of times it also depends you could have a large breed dog with a small mouth in which case you would want to get him a smaller toy. But you always want to be careful that you are giving the dog a toy that is appropriate for them in size. Here‘s an example of two cogs. This is a toy for a smaller breed and this is for a larger breed. You really would not want to give this size toy to a Great Dane. He is so large it could easily get wedged in the dog’s mouth. We are going to move on from balls and cogs to stuffed toys. You can see here we’ve got a very large toy. This would actually be great for any sized dog. Not really meant to be a chew toy; more of a cuddling toy. This again would be super toy for any dog small or large. This is a medium sized toy and this again it is going to be a fine tight size toy for any dog smaller or large. A very small dog might have a hard time finding its squeaker though and have a hard time carrying it around so you might want to get for smaller breed dogs, smaller toys. These are squeaky toys and it is going to be fairly easy for a small breed dog to get its mouth around the toy to find the squeaker."
