"Hi, this is Elise McMahon for Expert Village.com and in this video series we are talking about dog toys. If you would like to find out more about what I do, you can visit my website at www.canineheadstart.com. We are going to be talking about which toys are appropriate for your dog. One thing you want to be sure of is if you are using a toy and I am going to use this as an example, this is a rawhide bone. This bone originally about that long. This bone has been here in the house lying around for probably about 2 months. You can see by the usage that the dogs chew on this very slowly. This same bone which again is probably 8 inches long. If I ‘d given this to a dog and the next day it was this size or gone, then I would know that I would not be wanting to give rawhide bones to that particular dog. However, it is fairly safe to give it to this young puppy for example because she eats at a reasonable rate. When a toy gets too small and a bone gets too small, you actually want to throw it out so when this is about half this size and I find it on the floor I am going to throw it out. I don’t want to give the dog anything that they could actually get ingests fully without chewing or get stuck some where in their mouth. So it is very important to think about what you are giving your dog and what is appropriate for your dog. We are going to be going through some various toys to show you what kind of toys are appropriate for what type of dog."
