Video Transcript

"Hi, I'm Jim Leske, animal trainer and behaviorist for Expert Village. Today we want to talk about something that every pet owner hopes that they never encounter, and that is blood in your dog or cat or any pet's stool, for that matter, or even in their vomit. Hopefully this never happens to you but, if it does, this could be a very determental situation for you and your pet. Should this happen, you want to try to get a plastic bag or other clean plastic container, try to get a good sample of the blood in the stool or the vomit, and you want to put that in something that's airtight. Hopefully you can seal the jar or container up. Even a jar or even a plastic sandwich baggie will work. Take them both to the vet immediately. Your vet will need this to help determine what the problem is with your dog. This can be anything, from something very simple food lodged in their stomach to something very very serious, and everything in between. By having these things together, you'll make your vet's job easier, you'll make it faster to get to the point where they can figure and diagnose out what the problem is. Once this happens, you and your vet can talk about the best avenue to taking care of and getting your dog back to health. I'm Jim Leske for Expert Village."
