Summary: Learn how controlling fleas can help the basic health of a dog in this free video.
"Hi, I'm Jim Leske, animal behaviorist for Expert Village. I'm here today to talk to you about flea control. Flea infestation can literally suck the blood right out of your dogs. They carry disease and, if you've got one, you've got a hundred thousand. There's no such thing as one or two fleas. They can infest your entire home, all of your pets, and even you and your children. So staying on top of these little buggers, especially in the warmer climates or the warmer time of the year, can help keep your pets healthy and happy for years to come. Many of the deals and the discount stores and what have you, carry a variety of items, but basically, when it comes to flea control, you get what you pay for. If you spend a dollar on something, you're going to kill one or two fleas, if you're lucky. If you spend a little bit more, you're going to get a lot more control on the fleas, and so today we're here to talk about it. The drops are very easy to put on. You can buy them online, you can get them at your vet, you can get them at the pet stores. Basically, it comes in a tube. You want to make sure that you buy the dosage that is appropriate for the age and weight for your dog. Remember, your dog's coat has oils in it, and you want to get it beneath the coat; you want to go right down to the skin. So I'm taking this tube, I'm going right through all the hair, I'm going right down into the skin, and I'm applying little drops all the way down her back. The reason we put it on the back is that it's much more difficult for her to turn around and lick it off. So with that, that takes care of Tessa's flea problems here for the next month or two, depending on the weather, and I'm Jim Leske, animal trainer and behaviorist for Expert Village. I hope this helps you and your dogs live long and healthy lives together. Thank you. "
