"Hi I'm Jim Leske, animal trainer with Expert Village. Today we're talking about dog training and specifically now that we've mastered the sit, now we want you to work on stay. The number one reason that dogs fail stay is that on the first outing, people want their dog to sit, stay, while I run down to the coffee shop, come back and expect their dog to still be there. Not going to happen today. Give it a week or two and you will definitely be there. So now what we want to do is change our trigger word to what is called stay. So Bear's already in the sit, put him back in the sit position, very very good sit, stay, very good boy. What I'm teaching him is that now stay is the trigger word. Today that stay was only about two seconds, I counted it off in my head so I didn't distract him and with repetition I'll gradually make that longer and longer and longer. So one more time, sit, good boy, stay, very good, very good, every command gets a reward. I'm Jim Leski with Expert Village."
