" Hi! My name is Gretchen Brown. I have been teaching conformation training and handling professionally for 20 some odd years. I am coming today on behalf of expertvillage.com to teach you how to train and show your show dog. The gait of your dog is individualized. You need to read your breed standard and understand what the gait is supposed to be for that dog. The poodle has a slight springy action, a standard poodle does. The bulldog has a rolling action. The Labrador moves differently than either one of those. The Irish setter moves differently than any of the three. A professional handler can help you determine whether or not the dog that you are choosing is correct for that breed, also the speed that you move your dog at is critical. Not all dogs are designed to race around the ring. This is where a handling class can help you. The instructor can guide you for which is the correct speed and gait for your dog and for the breed. You will have differences within the breed on how the individual dogs move. I hope I have been of some help to you this afternoon. You can contact me through the web site commanddogtraining.com. We run classes every Wednesday night and we are based out at Fort Lauderdale. Thank you. "
