" Hi! My name is Gretchen Brown. I have been teaching conformation training and handling professionally for 20 some odd years. I am coming today on behalf of expertvillage.com to teach you how to train and show your show dog. If you want to get an AKC puppy to show with the intention of showing it, it might be a good idea to take a professional handler or an obedience trainer with you to look at a litter. You need to read the standard, you need to know what you are looking for, what is good and bad in that particular breed. Not all AKC registered dogs are show quality. A professional handler may be more capable of picking out what you want for your house and what dog has a better chance to finish it. Some breeders have created their own registries to avoid the AKC DNA policy and the AKC inspection policy. Those papers are not registrable with the AKC. Make sure if you want to play in the American Kennel Club shows that you get a puppy that is AKC registered. I hope I have been of some help to you this afternoon. You can contact me through the website commanddogtraining.com. We run classes every Wednesday night and we are based out at Fort Lauderdale. Thank you. "
