" Hi! This is Elise Paffrath with Breeze Thru Agility. I am talking about beginner agility training on behalf of Expert Village.com. Next I want to talk about the chute also called the collapsed tunnel. In agility it is one of the obstacles that the dogs need to learn to do. It consists of a firm barrel part with a long piece of material from 8 to 12 feet that the dog must burrow through. I like to teach it by rolling it up short, Sprite Stay! and having the dog run through while I hold it up, so they don’t need to push through it right away. Okay shoot. Good girl. When the dogs become very competent at it, you can roll it all the way out and have them perform it, Sprite come, all the way through, but do not try to do this until the dog has really gotten comfortable doing it shorter. Okay. Chute. Good girl; that is the chute. You can start training the collapsed tunnel by just having the barrel unit and taking off the material. The dogs need to get used to going into a closed place and also the barrel can be a little bit hard and slippery. Once the dog is comfortably doing the barrel, then you can go ahead and put the material on and start to train the entire obstacle by holding up the material and getting your dog comfortable running through the whole thing."
