"So one way that you can work on your dog teaching him not to jump is working on your own it your house. But a very important part of teaching your dog anything little alone how not to jump on people is working in classes. The advantage in working in class is your working around other people, with other dogs, so you can actually practice with a greater variety of people and that you are practicing in some place that is not your house. One of the disadvantages in just working in classes is well I might go now or once a week and that is where I'm going to practice with my dog. It is really important that if you are in a class that you practice all of the exercises that you are doing in class outside of class and that you do it a little bit a tinny bit everyday as a minimum. But again for classes is good because we can actually work with other people so we can practice doing greetings with other people, dogs get used to doing the exercises around other dogs. Come here Raven let's get up and do one good girl. When you are doing a class you are signing up for a class one thing that you want to do is you want to ask always ask the instructor if you can sit in on a class before you sign your dog up. Many places has a no refund policy which is reasonable because they are holding a place for you and you dog. But before you actually commit to taking your dog to a place you want to make sure that you like the philosophy and the atmosphere of the place that you are going to be working. I suggest working a place that tends to have smaller classes where you are going to get more on one. It also tends to be a little bit less chaotic you don't have 1-15-20 dogs all running around. The noise level is just really less and you can focus more on your dog. So again important to be working come here Raven with other people, sit, good girl and having other people help you teach your dog appropriate greeting methods. Ya having them to lie down and roll over is also not a bad alternative to jumping. "
