How to Use a Leash to Train your Dog Not to Jump

"So when you first start working with your dog what we are going to do here we are actually going to stimulate walking out into the street but you would actually want to take your dog out in the street, take her out in public, take her to fairs, to flea markets and you want to work with your dog on leach. When you are working with your dog on leach you actually have control on whether or not the dog runs up to a person and jumps on them and says hi or walks up nice and politely and sits and a gets greeted for sitting. So we are just going to demonstrate how we would do that with Raven, we got her on leach and we are going to be walking up to our first person we are going to use 2 people in this exercise. When you are practicing this you can practice it indoors and take it outdoors I will suggest probably doing about 5 new people minimum per week to generalize the idea that ht dog can't jump on anybody. Alright so let's go Raven good girl, Raven sit, good girl. Hi! Hi! How are good? Good! Good! Hi puppy. She is going to give you slap you 5 that was good. Good job. And you can see with Raven that she was even able to hold it while we did a greeting with humans which can be a bit more difficult. So now we are going to go to the next person so lets goo Raven. Come here. Good girl, Raven sit. Hi. Hi! How are you? Good. Nice to meet you. Oh hi. So you can see Raven really have a default behavior which is off of her feet or her foot for a person to say hi which is really nice a nice behavior for her to have and it keeps her from sitting and you might think looking at her that she keeps lying down she is not a dog that is more likely to jump in, I can tell you are wrong. She actually does like jumping on people she is just being relaxed right now. "
