"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Carlos Puentes with K-9 Solutions Dog Training in Miami, Florida, and today we're going to talk about dog training myths from my new book, Who's Training Whom? Myth number 5: my dog will hate me if I'm firm with him. In fact, your dog is going to respond to you better, respect you better, bond with you better if you're the leader for the dog. There's a difference between being very harsh with the dog and firmness. Most of the time the dog will not benefit by you being soft with him. If you are the leader for your dog and you're consistently firm with him when you have to instead of allowing him to become accustom to bad behavior and then settle to get tough with him, that will be no good. The other way would be great. He'll be your best friend for life. Right buddy? Alrighty, good boy."
