"On behalf of Expert Village I'm Carlos Puentes with K-9 Solutions Dog Training in Miami, Florida and today we're going to talk about Dog training Myths from new book, Who is Training Whom? Myth #2 put your dogs nose in his urine or when he defecates put his nose in it wrong. The number 1 mistake that people make when they are house breaking a dog is that they yell at the dog or they'll put their dogs nose in the stool; best thing to do is go ahead and use a shaker bottle you can make it yourself you get twenty pennies in a 2 liter bottle; aluminum cans are not good there is not enough room for the the pennies to move. So you don't want to physically impose yourself upon the dog, what happens is that he learns the presence of my owner there is a problem every time I try to eliminate in front of my owner I catch up so let me run and hide. So you'll take the dog outside with a leash and collar for the dog to eliminate and the dogs ears (demonstrates that dog will give an expression as if thinking "Do you think I'm stupid I'm not going to eliminate in front of you, I am going to wait until you bring me back inside so I can run and hide do it). So this is something you want your pup to do in front of you every day it shouldn't be negative. So you use another distraction now you're not the bad one it's that stupid shaker bottle that's inside."
