"Hi, this is Elise McMahon for ExpertVillage.com. And, in this video series, we're talking about teaching a reliable recall. If you'd like to find out more about my services, you can visit my website at canineheadstart.com. So, in this video clip, we're talking about reinforcement, positive reinforcement for your dog coming to you. I'm going to demonstrate what kinds of positive reinforcement you can use for your dog when they come to you. So, we've got Teddy here. And, Sue is going to call him. I'm just going to move him a little bit further back here. Teddy, this way. Good boy. And, Sue's going to call her dog. And, what she's going to use for positive reinforcement is verbal praise. An important thing, I don't know if you can see this, but a couple of feet in front of me there's a line. She's going to start praising her dog before he crosses this line if he's coming towards her. So, he's getting reinforced from essentially the first step that he's making in her direction until he gets to her. So, we're going to be using verbal praise for him coming to her. Go ahead, Sue. Yes. Good boy. Yeah. Yeah. Good boy, Ted. Very good. Yeah. Yes. Good job. So, Teddy got a lot of positive reinforcement for the first step he made in Sue's direction."
