"Hi, this is Elise McMahon for ExpertVillage.com. And, in this video series, we're going to talk about how to teach a reliable recall. If you'd like to know about my services, more about my services, you can visit my website at canineheadstart.com. So, in this short clip we're going to be talking about the every day recall, your dog's every day recall. Most people have a recall, an every day recall, and they use the word "come". A dog's every day recall, you want to think about it this way, you might find does this as well, you say "Fido, come", and they'll turn around, look at you, and say, "Yeah, yeah, I'll be there in a minute." Well, if you think about people, people have every day recalls and emergency recalls. So, if you're downstairs and someone in your house is upstairs and they say, "Come and look at this." You might say to them, "Okay, I'll be there in a second." This is really similar to what your dog is doing to you. It's called an every day "I'll be there in a second" type of recall. Then, there's an emergency recall. If somebody's upstairs, you're downstairs, and you hear a fall and a scream, you're going to jump up, run up there like a flash. And, that's your human emergency recall. We want to teach dogs a reliable every day recall, as well as, an emergency recall that they're going to respond to right away. So, an every day recall would be just telling your dog to "come." So, we're going to have Sue, just move away from her dog Teddy. And, she's going to tell Teddy to "come." Come. Good boy. Good. Good job. Next, we're going to move on to teaching the ecall, or reliable recall, the emergency recall."
