"Hi, This is Elise McMann for Expert Village.com and in this video series we're talking about how to teach your dog a reliable recall. If, you would like to find out more about my services you can visit my website at http//:www.canineheadstart.com. So, in this short clip we're talking about conditioning a response. In this case were going to be conditioning a response to the dog's name, and we're going to use this and you'll see how we're going to use this later on to building the reliable recall. So, Sue again working with her dog Teddy is going to condition a response to his name. I am going to tell you first how she is going to do it and then we're going to have her demonstrate it. she's got a handful of cookies, she's got her verbal marker which is the word "yes" and she knows her dogs name and those are the only tools that you need to do to play this game. So, she is going to say the dogs name when he's not looking at her and as soon as her turns away and looks at her she's going to mark that turning of the head and reward him with a cookie. So Tedddy's pretty focused on Sue right now, I am going just going to do a couple of things to get him looking away from her. (Sue, is snapping her fingers and calling Teddy and saying "yes"! when he turns back to her she praises Teddy with a good boy!and hands him the cookie). Good Job! so, you can see what we're doing here is conditioning a response an attention response to the sound of his name."
