Tips for Putting On a Dog's Collar

"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Carl Puentes from K-9 Solutions in Miami, Florida and today I am going to show you dog training techniques from my new book, "Who is Training Whom." A good way to introduce a collar to the dog is to place the collar on the dog's neck with a piece of food; give him little piece. Going to take it right back off again. There are two rewards; it gets put on and sit, good sit. There are two rewards. The food is placed on the dog's mouth and is taken right back off again. If the dog or puppy is not used to wearing it, let's do it again. What's the big deal. Put it on my neck, give me a piece of food and take it right back off again. The first experiences with the collar are very positive. I don't think you are ever going to use this in a negative way. But the dog loves it. You should not be running after the dog to put a collar on the dog. "
