"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Terry. And today I'm going to show you how to use a hand held grinder. Now, I'm going to demonstrate another use. This time I'm going to put a wire cup on the grinder. We use wire cups and wheels for cleaning welds, cleaning paint, or basically just polishing something up so that it looks nice and shiny. There you go. See how nice and bright that's all cleaned up. You might want that cleaned off for painting or you might just want to leave it like that. I recommend though, using a wire brush or a wire wheel. But you do use a full face shield. Because what happens is these wires fly off and they will stick in your face and your skin. It does look like little whiskers. As you can see there, it's polished up the weld and removed, there was rust right there, it removed all that. Basically, what you use a wire wheel for is if your stick welding. You want to get all the flux out. Because the flux can help give you a bad weld. It will make for prosy. Prosy is basically air bubbles. So that's what a wire wheel is used for."
