How to Use the Cutting Wheel on a Handheld Grinder

"On behalf of Expert Village, I'm Terry. And today I'm going to show you how to use a hand held grinder. Now, I'm going to show you how to use the cutting wheel with the same grinder that you can use for cutting. I'm going to cut these two pieces of metal I just welded together. The one I ground down and finished out. Now, when you're running a grinder like this, you want to keep every obstacle out of the way. You don't want to get in there and dig too hard. You just want to let its own weight ride on there and just cut away the weld. If you go to digging, this will dig in and it will want to grab. And these will shatter. And at 1800 rpm, it?s not very fun to having those particles flying. I just ran this cutting wheel down the lengths of my weld so that I can break apart this tubing. Here we go. See. Now, you see right there, I took off as less material as I could. Then I can do what I just showed you a while ago. I can polish all that down and round it off and I look like it?s not even damaged. Just in case you make a mistake, you can cut something apart and start all over."
