"Hi! I'm Chef Rainer Wickel and I am here today with expertvillage.com. Well we've grated out potatoes, squeezed the liquid out of them and now we are ready to make the mixture. Now I am going to show you how we prepare our ingredients to put into the mixture to get the potato pancakes ready for frying. Well we are going to need about a quarter of onion that we are going to grate into the mixture, two cloves of garlic. We are going to use sour cream and basically this is for the taste. This is going to give it that nice tangy taste. Salt and pepper for seasoning. We will be using about two tablespoons of flour and in this we are going to use bind the potato mixture together to get it ready for frying. We are also going to need one beaten egg. So what you want to do first is you want to cut the onion, just cut it into a quarter and go ahead and cut the sides off of it because we want to be sure we just get onion in the mixture. You know and don't worry about taking the top off of this because remember we are going to be using the grater for this and we don't want the large onion pieces in there. What we are going to be doing is putting the onion paste in there with that really fine grating. It is going to come out as a paste and we are not really going to use the whole thing. We are probably going to use about half of it. And do the same thing with the garlic. You want to cut the ends off and do that with the second piece. The reason we do this is because then it is a lot easier to peel it. So you can see right here just peel the top off of it and we just want to have the pure clove of garlic because we are going to be putting this through a garlic press. So go ahead and do that with both cloves. Now the garlic and the onions are going to give it a really really good flavor. So we are good there. Then we want to take one egg and break that into a bowl and then take a fork and go ahead and beat the egg. You just want to make sure that you beat the egg yolk and the white together because we want that at a nice consistency so it makes it nice and even with the potato mixture. Alright, that looks good. So we have the egg ready, we have the garlic ready for the garlic press, we have the onion ready for grating and all the rest of the ingredients for flavor and this is how we prepare all the ingredients to get ready to mix with the potato mixture so that we can fry our potato pancakes.
