"Hi, I'm chef Rainer Wickel and I'm here today with expertvillage.com. Well, now we're on to our next recipe and that's German potato pancakes. Now there are lots of variations of these in various cultures around the world, but personally I think the German ones are definitely the best. Even in Germany there are different variations of potato pancakes according to different regions in Germany. The one that we're going to be doing today is pretty much the one that they make in the region of Essing in Germany, which is where my mom's from. Now when I grew up this was one of my absolute favorite foods. I was always asking my mom to make this. So once I was able to cook myself, this is one of the first recipes that I learned how to do. Now German potato pancakes are traditionally served with practically everything in Germany. I mean you usually get them with bratwurst. If you go into any type of a fest in Germany they will have bratwurst up there, beer, and potato pancakes. Those are pretty much the three things that you get there. We're going to be making this with potatoes, it has eggs in it, sour cream, lemon, garlic, onions, everything for flavor and this all blends together to give it an absolute wonderful taste. Now I'm going to share with you a little trick that not many people know as far as making these pancakes and you will not find this in any other recipes that you see. And, this is really gonna make these pancakes great. Well, I'm really looking forward to eating these and I'm sure my crew is too.
