Fry Bananas Foster

"Hi! I'm Chef Rainer Wicker here today on behalf of expertvillage.com. Well we are on to our next step. We've already melted the brown sugar into our butter mixture with all the spices and banana liqueur and now what we need to do is fry the bananas. Now we are going to use 2 bananas for this dish, so what you want to do is cut it right down the middle. So we are going to get 4 pieces on this and that is where the nice sharp paring knife comes in and you want to have something nice and sharp just because of the fact that it makes it a lot easier to cut. Make sure that you cut them all the way through and as you can see the sugar is already melted in our pan and we don't want to have it up too high because we don't want it to burn, we don't want it to smoke. So just go ahead and put your bananas in there. What we will do is we are going to fry these for about a minute on each side. But as we are frying them go ahead and take a spoon and put the mixture over the bananas because we want that nice sugar glaze to be on the bananas. Remember we are not going to be leaving these in here when we actually put the Rum in to ignite this. We will be taking the bananas out before we do that. So you want to make sure that they have a nice glaze over the top of them. As they are cooking, just go ahead and spoon the mixture over the top. As you can see it is already melted sugar so it is blending really nice with the bananas. Just make sure to cover them nicely and we are going to cook these for about a minute on each side. Just go ahead and flip them over and in the next step is where we actually are going to take the bananas out of the mixture and add the Rum and then we are going to set it on fire. But this is how we fry our bananas to make our bananas foster. "
