"My name is Mihaly Fabsk. We are here on behalf of Expert Village. Also we are here to learn about white wines. This one, this wine has a different character, it is made from the Chardonnay grape variety, and is also common grape variety found all over the world, it an international grape variety and also in Hungary it is very popular. So this Chardonnay is actually our house wine because the Gunder Restaurant has its own winery in Eger. So this Chardonnay was aged and fermented in an oak barrel, so we can see on the label it is a Barrique, which means it was aged and fermented in an oak barrel. The vintage year, the vintage year was 2003, which was good vintage year, actually, not just in Hungary, but all over in Europe. So this Chardonnay shows great character, the most dominant flavor of the vine is ripe apple, pineapple, watermelon, also a touch of toasty, oaky flavor, that is very easy to recognize when you taste the wine. Of course, it is very important the temperature, the serving temperature. When you have full-bodied white wine which was aged in an oak barrel, the best temperature is about twelve (12) degrees; if you have a lighter style, like the Pregoose (sp) white wine, it's much lighter, it was aged and fermented only in a stainless steel tank, to keep the primary fruity flavor and aroma, so the best serving temperature is about eight (8) to ten (10) Celsius degrees. So this type of white wine is matching well, for example, with smoked fish, because of the smoky, toasty character."
