"In a split wheel, the peddler goes from cartwheeling in one direction to being able to cartwheel in the other direction without stopping and resetting up. If I was only going to my right, I would stop going to my right and keep cartwheels going to the left. The way that this works is when my bow is under water, what I'm going to do is push out on my paddle a little bit and stand up tall, which allows the boat to spin while I'm vertical. I'm going to stay on the same blade, continue to look over my upstream shoulder, and then pull the bow back up stream again. This move is called a split wheel. It's 2 vertical cartwheels. One the bow sinks in, then you stand up and rotate, and the stern sinks in and pulls the boat back around."
