"When you're cartwheeling in a shallow or tight area, it's important to keep your eyes focused on the point upstream so that you know exactly where each end is coming into the water. When we start off cartwheeling, we want to have a good double pumping initiation so that we can be precise with where we land our bow into the water. After our strong initiation, our job isn't really to push and pull harder the paddle. It's more to keep our torso up and keep our eyes on that spot that we want to try and stay at. Once I get those cartwheels rolling, I'm really doing bracing strokes with my paddle to help balance me and support me so that I don't fall over forwards or backwards, controlling where my body position is."
