"Finding the sweet spot of a hole is the key to doing a lot of kayaking moves. Most holes out there have some particular area that will pull you back into the hole and another area where it's really good to do tricks in. So one of the first things I do when I get to a new hole is move around in the hole as much as possible, kayak from one side to the other side, bounce around on the top of the foam pile, and try to figure out where the hole is stickiest and where it’s weakest. One of the best ways to demonstrate this is to, by actually swimming in the hole. When I swim in the hole you’ll notice that I’ll go out to an area that’s really sticky and that part will pull me into the hole. If I swim to the right you’re going to notice that the hole is a little weaker and I’m going to start flushing out of the hole a little bit more. So, once you get in your kayak again find that sweet spot by moving around and also cart wheeling, trying to figure out what parts of the hole are deeper if you’re in a shallow area. "
