"Okay, what we’re going to work on now is getting into a hole from the side. When I get onto a hole from the side it’s just as if I’m ferrying out onto a wave. If you notice on this hole it has a shoulder right along the side wall and I want to come in with my nose right about here on the side wall. I don’t want to be with my nose way upstream way about here, because what will happen is my bow will end up curling into the water and as that bow curls it’s going to push me off the wave. So I’ll show you a really good example of coming in right on this wave and powering yourself across and I’ll show you a bad example of that deflection if you go too far upstream. What else is really cool about coming into a wave from the side is that it’s a nice easy way to get to the top of the foam pile and from the top of the foam pile you can do a lot of tricks. So oftentimes right as you enter you’ll be in a good set up position to try your first move. "
