"What we're going to look at with vertical balance is the forward position or the backward position when you're boat is up on end. This is my boat and it's up on end. Ideally, my body will stay neutral so that if I'm doing cartwheels, I'm like the access of a wheel. Everything can rotate around that. For vertical balance, if I want to pull my boat more vertical, I can lean my body up out of the water, which pulls the boat to my body. If I want to make the boat less vertical, I'll sink my body into the water, which will cause it to push the boat away from my body. My body weight becomes weightless when I do that, so the boat falls away."
