"The next part of looping is to finish the loop off. To finish the loop off, we need to throw our heels away from our body to get a good snap at the end of the loop. Right after I finish tucking forward in the loop and my stern is about to hit the water, the next thing I'm going to do is go back with both hands in my torso. What I'm really doing is pushing my heels out away from my boat so the boat comes up over my head and back into a front surf. What also helps finish the loop off is to not land back here. We call this the iron cross, and it's easy for your hands to get stuck over your head. When we're looping in a hole, it's best to finish with one side of your boat so that you can get your paddle back out of the water and reposition your body weight forward again to maintain an aggressive front surf once you get back up. Again, the keys to finishing that loop. I want to throw my weight backwards, push my heels away from me, and finish with one blade off to the side slightly so that the loop can surround very nicely and nice and smooth. "
