"Hi I'm Rachel Dayan for Expert Village now I'm going to show you how to make chickpeas we're going to soak the in water until they get to there fully size before cooking them. I wanted to show you the chickpeas the difference between a chickpeas both of them are not cooked but this one is soaked, it's after a night soaking and this one is before, you can see the difference in the colors and of course the difference in the size. This one is almost I think it's twice as big than the other one. Pouring the water the water should at least twice as much as the chickpeas if not 2 1/2 times because chickpeas have the character of absorbing a lot of water. If you don't put enough water in it, it's just going to drink, absorb all the water and in few hours its going to be dried without any water and the chickpeas are not going to get into there fully size. Plus it's going to take longer to cook so make sure you put enough water, it's not enough to cover them but at least twice as much if not 2 1/2 times like I said before. I wanted to mention one more thing when the chickpeas are fully size there outer peels becomes very clear, and if there's any bugs you can see them bugs or holes you can see it through the peel. That's another reason to soak it before you start cooking it, the amount of time you need to soak the chickpeas is 10 hours. What I usually do is put it inside water for almost overnight and the morning gets already."
