"Not everyone will need glasses out on the river. I do and I know a lot of kayakers do too. So, whenever you're thinking about getting a pair of glasses for the river you really want to make sure they stay on. Some people I know use contacts and it's important to carry a spare pair with you in case the water knocks them out of place or you lose one on the river. With the glasses you want to make sure that the frame is nice and sturdy so if you take a thick pair of plastic frame glasses and attach a good quality strap they're going to stay on your head a lot better. Whenever you're using glasses, plastic lenses are probably the best option to go to. While they scratch more easily they're not going to shatter so if you hit your face you're not going to end up with glass in your face and any added problems from that issue. If you're going to be using sunglasses make sure you get a good quality pair and again, they're sturdy so that any knocks or hits that you're gonna take, they're not gonna break on you in the middle of the river."
