"Hi, this is Matt on behalf of Expert Village and today, we're going to learn how to make Mediterranean veggie kabobs. Ok, so now that the rice is simmering, let's wash our vegetables before we cut and prepare them. It's very important to wash and prepare your vegetables. The reason being is they're sitting out in the supermarket and everyone has access to them; it's not like they're each in its own plastic bag or something. They're all just sitting out there and everybody's touching them throughout the course of the day. You just don't know where people's hands have been. So, it's really good to just give them the once-over and also, not to mention pesticides, too, so it's really good to give them the once-over. Now, here's a vegetable brush, you can just kind of put it under the water and wash them. If you don't have one, you can always just do it with your hands; just make sure your hands are clean. Now, let's wash our vegetables. I'm just going to - see how I'm just brushing it, giving it the once-over, just like so; really simple. Let's get that a little cooler. Just kind of brush your vegetable here and it's that simple. We'll move onto to the pepper here; I'm just going to give it the brush all over. Now, if you don't have one of these, it's totally fine to just make sure your hands are clean and just do this; that's totally fine. Let's get our squash here; this one feels a little grittier or a little dirtier so I'm just going to wash that. These don't cost that much money, these are pretty inexpensive. You can find one of these at a supermarket or a home goods or a home wares store or whatever; really simple, really cheap and definitely very important to do. As far as our mushrooms are concerned, we don't have to brush those, we can just kind of - they're in the bowl, give them the once-over here like this, run the water over them and that's fine. Now, let's prepare our vegetables."
