Skiing has always been a relatively popular sport. It's fun, exciting and a great workout. As all things do, however, skiing evolved into other forms of powder transportation. Snowboarding is one of those offshoots. It became popular in the late 1970's and early 80's because of men like Dimitrije Milovich, Jake Burton and Tom Sims. They were just a few of the early snowboarding pioneers that took a then, hobby and turned it into the gigantic sport it is today. It was not until 1985 that it was officially declared a sport but as many would let it be known snowboarding was always in the hearts and minds of adventurers in the 70's.

"In this segment, I'm going to be giving you a run through on how to pick your snowboarding gloves. The first style of glove that I'm going to be showing you is your pipe glove, also known as a spring glove. These gloves are going to be five-finger gloves. So, your fingers are not going to be together. They're really not designed to keep you super warm. They're pretty much designed for a light weight glove you can have out when it's really hot out and your hands aren't going to be sweating or anything. It's pretty much just going to protect you from the snow and from your edges if your doing certain grabs with your snowboard and with your spin, or if you're riding pipe and you don't want a super bulky glove. There not going to be for if it's really cold out. Your hands are going to get really, really cold as opposed to wearing a mitten or a typical five-finger glove. These pipe gloves, like I said, are strictly for protection, riding pipe, or when it's really hot and sunny out and when you don't really need to worry about how warm your hands are because it's already really hot outside. That's the pipe glove. So now, I'm going to be showing you the typical five-finger glove. As you can see right here, it looks pretty similar to the pipe glove but it's a little bit bulkier and they have a little bit more insulation inside of them. This is going to be your kind of middle of the range warmth glove. Your fingers are still going to be separate as opposed to a mitten where everything is together. Right here, your fingers are going to be separate but it's going to be a little bit thicker allowing for your hands to be kept a little bit warmer. If it's medium temperature, it's not freezing cold, not super hot out, it's going to give you all the protection you need. These gloves are going to make it so your hands stay warm but allow you the functionality and be able to access certain things, adjusting your bindings, finding things in your pocket without having to worry about having your fingers so close together like on a mitten. This is your typical five-finger glove. Lastly, I'm going to be showing you the mitten. Mittens are used for when it's really cold out. The idea is it's keeping the warmth in your hand, it's keeping everything together as opposed to separating your fingers. By doing this, it's going to allow for warmth to stay inside of your hand, thus making these the warmest gloves you can get. If it's really cold outside, you're definitely wanting to go with choosing the mitten. The basic idea of this is keeping your fingers together; keeping warmth inside. This is a mitten and that's pretty much how you go through and choose all your different types of snowboarding gloves."
