The sport of skateboarding is a far cry from its humble beginnings in the suburbs of a 1950s America. The skateboard started as nothing more than a wooden plank with wheels. We can now thank the radical, perception-altering influence of the 1960s for the increased popularity and production of skateboards. Certainly still holding some cache as an activity with instant street cred even today, skateboarding has been passed on to a third generation of shredders and grinders, who have taken the sport to a whole new level.
In this free video series, watch as skateboarder Evan Blankenship teaches how to do a pop shuvit on a skateboard. Learn how to approach the trick, execute a pop shuvit, and how to approach from different positions. Get skateboarding safety tips from these step by step lessons. Improve your skateboard repertoire and continue to live on the edge.
"Hi, my name's Evan Blankenship with Expert Village and I'm going to be teaching you how to pop-shove-it. A pop-shove-it is when the skateboard does a 180 but your body stays still over it, and to do a pop-shove-it, what you want to do is set your feet up like this, one foot slightly behind the bolt at an angle and the other foot centered at the tail. Now when you do this it?s kind of a scooping motion with your back foot and you just kind of give it a shove with your front foot. So what you do is you shove and scoop at the same time and the board will pop into the air and then that's how you do a pop-shove-it."
